The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Here it is 2011 already. I have been one busy man since the beginning of 2009. It was then that I transferred from my assignment as an Air Traffic Controller in Burbank to the Southern California Terminal Radar Approach Control facility located just outside the Marine Corps Air Station at Miramar. While I was there, I lived with one of my best friends who lives alone in a beautiful, big, three bedroom house. He works at the same place I did, handling arrival traffic into LAX. It had been a year or two before that he had lost his beautiful 24-year-old daughter in a tragic car crash. He was convinced that there is no God because, if there were, tragic things like this wouldn't happen. He and I shared many frank discussions about this subject. Over the months, he began to see that things do not always happen the way that we think they should -- that God, even in control of all, does not always give us that "story book" life. He now knows that this life is not "all there is"! His heart was hard -- like a rock -- now he has room for God to come into his life and change him for all eternity. It was not me that softened his heart; it was the Holy Spirit speaking through me and directly to him that helped him see that God is ALL LOVE! It was no accident that I injured my shoulder in February and had surgery at the end of March which interrupted my training down there. It became harder and harder to leave my home and go to San Diego for the work week. I knew that it was time to come back. I transferred back to my old job in Burbank and God continues to reveal His plan for me. There are so many people in need of help -- physically, emotionally, spiritually, I could go on and on. Corrie and I are so blessed to be Godparents to Joe, who is to be Baptised at Easter Vigil, and Perla who will be Confirmed and receive first Holy Communion, and George who will be Confirmed during the Easter Season. We continue to teach the Catholic Faith to those that will listen to God's call and we are blessed more than I could have imagined. Kevin

Easter Season 2010

I can't believe I've not made an entry for over a year again. It is now almost halfway through the Easter season of 2010 - eight full weeks of celebrating the joyous Resurrection of Our Lord. At each Mass we are sprinkled by the Priest with Holy Water during the Gloria which is the last of the Introductory Rites of our Liturgy. This is very special as it reminds us of our Baptism and that, through it, God has placed us into a state of Grace by forgiving us of our sin and thus allows us to be in Fellowship and Communion with Him and His Church.

Easter 2009

Wow - what an awesome experiece! This day, after 10+ months of Inquiry, Formation and Instruction, 28 souls received the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation and became fully-initiated members of the Catholic Church. It was a distinct blessing to have played a part in the conversion of a few of our Neophytes!

Lent Again
3/4/2009 9:24:08 AM
Here we are in 2009 and it is Lent again. This year's "giving up" item is very private and personal. Although Ash Wednesday is not a Day of Obligation I was able to get away from work long enough to attend Mass at the Basilica at Mission San Diego de Alcala. What a blessing it is to worship at a place where the faithful have been worshiping since 1697 . . . 1697! That's a looong time in our country. Lent is all about Spiritual renewal. It is my hope and prayer that you will grow closer to God during this Lenten season. When we talk about God relating to mankind it is definitely a Love Story. Peace be with you.

Octave of Easter 2008
3/26/2008 7:03:54 PM
Here we are in the Octave of Easter 2008. I decided this year to take all of Holy Week off (the week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday). It was for me one of the most inspiring and enriching times of my life. I participated in virtually every activity that was offered and found even more to do that is the "Lord's Work". On Good Friday, we have a long-standing tradition of devotions to our Lord. One of them is called the "Seven Last Words of Christ". It is actually His seven last phrases beginning with "Father forgive them . . ." and finishes with "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit". Each phrase and a brief narrative is read by the presider and then a Reflection is presented by a Member of the Faithful. I was honored to reflect upon the last phrase, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit". You can read my reflection by clicking "Reflection" to the left.
